I take it as a good omen that this year, and this new month begins with a new week. It feels like a good start.
I feel the excitement of what might come and I'm already planning the year ahead but at the same time I try and remind myself to slow down and savour this moment that is this new beginning. I remind myself to slow down and sit to be by myself, to listen and attune to my own rhythms and find the matching beat with the universe. To remind myself that I am still wintering and still recovering and restoring, even though the process of tending to the new seeds has started.
The poem below speaks of this process and the new beginnings:
“In out of the way places of the heart
Where your thoughts never think to wander
This beginning has been quietly forming
Waiting until you were ready to emerge
Though your destination is not clear
You can trust the promise of this opening
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your heart’s desire
Awaken your spirit to adventure
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm
For your soul sense the world that awaits you"
-"For A New Beginning”, by John O’Donohue (excerpt)
