Most of us are conditioned to think that come January we magically should have the ability to begin anew, to begin again. It is a new year after all! However nature around us might be telling us something different. Perhaps, that we still need to hibernate, replenish and take time to recharge. Some say that the real "new" year starts with Imbolc towards the end of January-beginning of February, where the energy of nature changes direction and a new cycle is activated.
So in this still, quiet space where we are now, in the depths of winter, we might need some extra support to allow our energy to start to move and feel more prepared for the days ahead.
They do say that every little helps, so here is a short practice to get your energy flowing, whilst staying grounded and in tune with your own rhythms.
The practice can be taken first thing in the morning to kick start the day, or in the evening, after a day's work. The practice is a sequence that can be repeated as many times as you like, each round is given with a slightly different variation and suggestions but these might not be right for you on any given day, so you might want to stick with the basic version of the sequence and repeat the same for the duration of your practice. Perhaps it might be something you will want to build on each day throughout January.
As someone once advised, "take what you need and leave the rest!"
And to add to that, "...but either way, begin each day, again".
