Yoga

Yoga, to yoke, to bring together, speaks of the union between body, mind and spirit, which according to Patanjali comes about through the practice of asanas (physical exercises), pranayama (breath control),  sense withdrawal (pratyahara), the practice of meditation and through observation of life guiding principles (yamas & niyamas). When this union happens we experience a sense of wellbeing on all levels of our being.

Yoga & its Benefits

Yoga can indeed benefit anyone who wants to engage with it, and there is a practice or style of yoga suitable for everyone's needs and abilities.

Mostly known for its benefits on the physical body, such as flexibility and strength, more recently more and more people are coming to yoga driven by the benefits yoga has on our minds, energy levels and nervous systems.

The last 10 years have seen a rise in research on the health benefits of yoga, building on its credibility as an evidence-based practice, including its role in:

- relieving low back pain

- stress relief

- improved cardiovascular functioning

- improved mental health

- reducing inflammation

- boosting immunity

- improved quality of life

Yoga Classes provide the space to practice and become acquainted with the specifics of a practice. To learn theoretically and experientially the effects of various postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama) and meditation practices, among others.
